The legendary Sakura Cray-Pas were invented in 1925 to be a perfect combination of a crayon and a pastel - by Sakura Color Products Corp. of Japan.They were created with the intention of providing a safe and accessible art medium for children, combining the vibrant colours of pastels with the ease of use of crayons. They are more usable than traditional oil pastels but with all the tactile blendability and full colour coverage.
